The last few years have been successful years for the Oil and Gas Industry and the years to come will see enhanced export of gas, thriving plastic industries, more storage and refining of crude oil.

BP have already contributed about 30 million standard cubic meters of gas a day from Khazzan and expect to add more in 2021, when Ghazeer field starts producing. PDO expects to put on stream the huge Rabab Harweel gas complex.

 

The Duqm refinery project has started and the Liwa Plastic complex in Sohar is half way complete. Total intends to build an LNG facility in the Sohar Industrial Port (SIP). On another note the sector is shifting towards clean energy, solar and wind, and more environmentally friendly strategies. This is demonstrated in the award of a 100 MW solar plant in the Miraa solar steam production plant and the Nimr Water Treatment Plant for produced water.
